Thomas Randle will return to the seat of his 750-plus horsepower SAAB Sports Sedan ahead of the upcoming Supercars round in Darwin.

The Tickford Racing driver will compete at this weekend’s SpeedSeries event at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Randle's laps will come at Round 2 of the Precision National Sports Sedan Series, which will be held on The Bend’s West Circuit this weekend. It will be the Ford star's first national Sports Sedan series round since 2021.

Randle first contested a round of the national series in 2014, and finished third in the 2015 series. Most recently, Randle drove the car at Phillip Island in a Victorian State Championship round last year.

Randle’s father Dean claimed the 2006 National Sports Sedan title in a Chevrolet-powered SAAB.

The SAAB will sport backing from Snowy River Caravans, which sponsors James Courtney's Blanchard Racing Team Ford Mustang Supercar. It will also carry support from BP, Castrol, ACT Fence Hire, DeVilbiss and Herzog Steel.

“It’s fantastic to be getting the band back together and give the SAAB Sports Sedan a run this weekend at The Bend in the Precision National Sports Sedan series,” said Randle, who is testing his Castrol Supercar at Winton Motor Raceway on Wednesday.

“I am thrilled to welcome Snowy River Caravans and BP onboard the #49 SAAB for the weekend, and continued support from Castrol, ACT Fence Hire and DeVilbiss.

“I always love racing this car and it’s great to keep up the racing miles and stay sharp while we have a couple of weeks break, in between the Perth and Darwin Supercars rounds.

“It’s such a fun time away racing with Dad and the guys so here’s hoping we can have a solid weekend - albeit nice and early each morning."

Meanwhile, Supercars rival Brodie Kostecki was set to compete at The Bend in Trans Am, but car issues have forced the Erebus Motorsport driver out of the event.

The 2024 Repco Supercars Championship will continue at the betr Darwin Triple Crown on June 14-16. Tickets for the event are on sale now. International viewers can follow all the Supercars action on Superview.
