Supercars transporters on the road for Perth-Darwin double
Perth and Darwin rounds will be held two weeks apart in June
Transporters, carrying cars and equipment, will remain on the road
Supercars transporters are completing the first leg of what will be a major logistical journey around Australia.
After four rounds in an 11-week span, the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 and betr Darwin Triple Crown will be held two weeks apart.
Team crews will fly home between this weekend’s Perth round and the Darwin round two weeks later. However, transporters — carrying cars and equipment — will remain on the road until after Darwin.
Teams left for Perth last week, with the Western Australia road trip the longest of the year for Queensland-based Supercars transporters.
Transporters have arrived in Western Australia, and will bump into CARCO.com.au Raceway on Thursday ahead of the commencement on Friday’s on-track action.
All told, Queensland-based transporters will travel approximately 12,000km, with Victorian teams hitting 11,000km.
Triple Eight Race Engineering has added a second A-trailer for the big journey, with the team carrying spare parts amid the potential for fixing damage between events.
Queensland-based teams have made a whopping 4300km trip to Perth, with Victorian teams logging over 3400km. It’s another 4000km to Darwin, before teams return home.
After the race weekend in Perth, teams will stay up to two days longer to service their cars, before making the trek to the Top End for the June 20-22 event in Darwin.
Transporters will arrive at Hidden Valley by Sunday June 15, with track garages to serve as workshops from Monday onwards before on-track action commences on Friday June 20.
Additionally, after Perth, teams will apply their Darwin Indigenous Round liveries before major reveals that week.
