The fight for the first 2026 Supercars Finals spot is set to go down to the wire, with four drivers from as many teams in position to vie for the Repco Sprint Cup.
There are two rounds and six races remaining to decide the second ever Sprint Cup winner, and at current, Matt Payne is in the box seat.
The Bathurst champion turned a 15-point deficit into a 92-point lead over longtime leader Broc Feeney, who won last year's Sprint Cup at a canter.
Brodie Kostecki and Cam Waters are 187 and 195 points behind Payne, but have emerged as the Penrite Racing driver's closest rivals amid a slump for Feeney and Red Bull Ampol Racing.
With a maximum of 630 points remaining, the top nine have a mathematical chance of winning the Sprint Cup. Realistically, it's a battle between four: Payne, Feeney, Kostecki and Waters.
Kai Allen is 317 points behind his teammate, while Chevrolet spearhead Anton De Pasquale is 342 points down. It would take a miracle for either of them to win from here, but stranger things have happened.
Payne's consistency has propelled him to this points, with Feeney on a six-race run without a podium. Kostecki went winless for 10 races and missed the Darwin finale altogether, while Waters has only come on strong since Darwin.
