Supercars celebrates biggest Ipswich crowd in 14 years
Supercars’ return to QR draws biggest crowd since 2011
51,723 fans attended 2025 Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440
Supercars’ return to Queensland Raceway has drawn the biggest crowd at the venue since 2011, with 51,723 fans attending the Century Batteries Ipswich Super440.
The new-look circuit hosted three action-packed days of racing, featuring the Repco Supercars Championship alongside Australian Superbikes, the Dunlop Super2 Series, Toyota GR Cup and Porsche Carrera Cup.
Speaking at his first event since returning as Supercars CEO, James Warburton said the weekend was a success and a testament to the passion of motorsport fans in the region.
“It’s amazing. I've always said that people vote with their feet, and just to have the turnout that we've got here — six years that we haven't been into one of our heartland markets — it’s fantastic to be here,” Warburton told Fox Sports.
“I can’t take any credit as the new guy. It’s our Chairman, our Board, Supercars who can for putting in another round, which is what the fans want to see.
“Obviously Quinny [Tony Quinn] and the circuit, making the improvements that he has. We love being here and finalising the Sprint Cup today and onto the Enduro Cup. We’d love to be back.
“For us, it’s about getting all the partners together post-event and seeing if we can all make it work with support. Obviously we look for support — we race with our government partners, and they’re huge events to put on. But again, without the fans and the teams and the drivers and the show we put on, we wouldn’t be here. So, as I said, they vote with their feet and we’re very proud to be here.”
Spectators were treated to thrilling on-track battles and off-track entertainment, with the Royal Australian Air Force providing spectacular flyovers across the weekend.
Fans travelled from across Queensland and interstate to witness the first Supercars event of the Gen3 era at the famous Southeast Queensland circuit.
Red Bull Ampol Racing Team’s Broc Feeney starred on track scoring three pole positions and two race wins which sealed his place as the first-ever winner of the Repco Sprint Cup – and the first ever spot in the Repco Finals Series which begins on the Gold Coast in October.
Supercars next stop is the Airtouch 500 at The Bend in South Australia from 12-14 September, the first event of the Enduro Cup.
Superstars of Supercars including Hall of Fame inductees Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup will join the grid in co-driver roles as the full-field battles it out in a 500km slog around the Tailem Bend circuit, the first time Supercars has raced an enduro event at the venue.
The event will be broadcast exclusively live on Fox Sports and Kayo, with highlights on the Seven Network and 7plus.
