Will Brown set for first Bathurst with David Cauchi
Cauchi replaced Andrew Edwards as #888 race engineer
Edwards promoted to Head of Performance role
Will Brown is enjoying working with new engineer David Cauchi, despite the 2024 champion looking likely for more change next season.
Triple Eight Race Engineering swung a surprise mid-season change for Brown, with David Cauchi replacing Andrew Edwards from The Bend onwards.
Edwards, who joined Triple Eight in 2022 and has led Brown since 2024, was promoted to the previously vacant Head of Performance role.
Triple Eight is running a part-time model, which facilitates Cauchi to engineer on race weekends alongside his existing Chief Operating Officer position with the DMH Group.
At current, the Triple Eight/Cauchi arrangement is in place for the remainder of 2026 only, with Triple Eight this week advertising for a full-time race engineer.
“It's obviously been a big change, it's a bit weird," Brown told Supercars.com.
"It's kind of like having two girlfriends, to be honest with Cauchi and Andrew both there.
"I think it's been a very good step in the team having Andrew in that role. It's been amazing to see, having that extra resource there, that Andrew can sometimes do different things that we sort of lost when JJ [Jeromy Moore] left."
Winning at his last event with Edwards was bittersweet for Brown, who snapped a 12-month drought at Queensland Raceway in August.
Cauchi has a big role to play, with Triple Eight boss Jamie Whincup keen for his old engineer to bring new insight and ideas to the title-contending team.
“We're feeling good,” Brown said.
"I've really enjoyed it. I've enjoyed working with Cauchi. The whole dynamic's been really good in there so far.”
Broc Feeney has been engineered by Martin Short since the 2021 Super2 season, with the duo rising to the main game in 2022 as development series champions.
Brown will race with Scott Pye at Mount Panorama in an unchanged line-up, with Nick Percat joining Feeney. Percat replaces Whincup, who stepped aside for 2026.
