Ryan Wood hopeful of talking to Broc Feeney after 2025 season finale
Kiwi admits his top priority is to find speed in new Toyota GR Supoa
Wood last in opening practice after struggling on new tyres
Ryan Wood is determined to fight his way up the time sheets amid continued questions about his rivalry with Broc Feeney.
Wood and Feeney have been at the centre of the pre-season following their controversial clash in the Adelaide finale last November.
Feeney came out firing in the media, claiming there was "bad blood” before revealing he left Wood on read leading up to the 2026 season.
The immediate tension in Adelaide was depicted in the new Supercars: Road to Glory documentary, with Wood hopeful of repairing his relationship with Feeney.
The Walkinshaw TWG Racing star ended up last on the time sheets in his new Toyota GR Supra in Sydney on Friday, and was set on climbing up the order.
“No, we haven't spoken,” Wood said after Practice 1 when asked if he had spoken to Feeney after Adelaide.
"I turned round and watched the doco at the launch, so that was cool. It's really cool that our fans get to see a different side of Supercars.
“Haven't spoken, but look, like I said, I race hard and just focussing on my 2026 and what I've gotta do. At the moment I've got a lot to focus on, we were last in that one. So that's on me, that session.
"I look forward to the next one to redeem myself.”
When asked if he intends to speak to Feeney, Wood said: "I think that's just between me and Broc to sort out. We'll maybe chat one day, hopefully sooner rather than later. But I guess that's up to me and him.
“We'll go race tonight and see what happens."
The performance of the new Supra remains a big unknown heading into Boost Mobile Qualifying, but reigning champion Chaz Mostert soared into the top 10 in practice, offering a glimpse of hope.
Wood, meanwhile, recently claimed he enters the new season as "the best prepared I'ver ever been,” and suggested he knows how to extract more speed from his #2 Mobil 1 Truck Assist Supra.
“Me and Rich [Harris, engineer] will go dig into the data and see what we've got. I definitely know once I got going, my pace was okay relative.
“But on the green [tyre] I really, really struggled to get the car just hooked up. I just didn't hook up on that green. But once we got going, it was okay. So we'll dig into that.
"It's all learning, so I'm enjoying it. It's obviously tough at times, but there's no better group that I've got around me to make sure we're just hitting those marks and ticking the boxes that we've got set out."
Wood's TV interview comes after Red Bull Ampol Racing Team Manager Mark Dutton insisted that there was no bad blood between the Triple Eight and Walkinshaw TWG organisations.
Boost Mobile Qualifying for the opening race of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship begins at 4:20pm local time.
