Rival squads Triple Eight and Walkinshaw TWG Racing have avoided penalty over a bizarre clash between Broc Feeney and Chaz Mostert in final Friday practice at the AirTouch 500 at The Bend.
Feeney and Mostert ended Friday 23rd and seventh on the time sheets after a rollercoaster yet uneventful day at The Bend, which was paced by PremiAir Racing rookie Jayden Ojeda.
The two star drivers nearly came to blows in strange fashion, however, as cars returned to the track for a final crack at the times.
Feeney was pushed out of his garage by Triple Eight mechanics, as Mostert was released by Walkinshaw TWG.
Mostert had to hit the brakes to avoid hitting the #88 Red Bull Ampol Racing Ford, with images captured by photographer Kass Brumley highlighting how close the two cars were.
Race Control advised that the incident was under investigation, before later advising that no further investigation was necessary.
There was a warning handed to Blanchard Racing Team co-driver Zak Best, who aboard Aaron Cameron's Ford, was captured at 42km/h in pit lane. The speed was recorded at the pit entry timing loop zone.
All three practice sessions ran uninterrupted, with Ojeda quickest in the first and third sessions.
Anton De Pasquale made it a Chevrolet top two in Practice 3, ahead of Mostert's teammate Ryan Wood.
Track action resumes on Saturday with Practice 4 from 9:50am local time.
