Nash Morris has topped the final practice session for the DUNLOP Super2 Series at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500, with the top four cars all within a tenth of a second.
The Tickford driver, who enters the weekend third in the title fight, led another Ford-dominated session, however championship contender Brad Vaughan once again flew the flag for Holden.
Practice 1 pacesetter Lochie Dalton went back to the top early on a 1:10.3665s, with Turn 9 proving tricky early as Elliott Cleary, Ben Gomersall, and Ryan Tomsett all ran into the gravel early, with Tomsett kissing the tyre wall.
Bayley Hall was the first to break under a 1:10s on a 1:09.9763s, whilst Eggleston Motorsport teammates Cleary and Aaron Love also leapt up the timing sheets at the halfway mark of the session.
The whole field put on fresh rubber at the halfway mark, and once again it was the Mustangs from Tickford and the Blanchard Racing Team that rose to the fore, with Brad Vaughan once again fighting a lone hand for Holden.
Campbell Logan spent time at the top of the timesheets on a 1:09.8204s, before he was bumped off by Nash Morris on a 1:09.5983s, which stood as the benchmark for the balance of the session.
However, it was by no means comfortable, Gomersall just 0.0376s off the pace, Logan improving late to go 0.038s slower, whilst Vaughan finished fourth, 0.083s off the fastest time.
Vaughan's late flyer prevented a Tickford sweep at the top, Reuben Goodall completing the Tickford foursome in fifth, with Bailey Sweeny, Tomsett, and Dalton completing the top eight for Ford.
Sweeny was lucky to get away with a heart in mouth moment at Turn 4, as he looped his #33 Ford, with Bradi Owen having to take evasive action in his Eggleston Commodore as Sweeny recovered.
Several were also pushing the limits with the Turn 1 exit kerb, with both Vaughan and Alice Buckley getting crossed up as they surfed over the kerb and onto the tarmac apron behind.
Vaughan's Brad Jones Racing teammate Matt Hillyer was the second-fastest Holden in ninth, with Hall falling back down to 10th after sitting fastest through the opening half of the session.
Declan Fraser was 14th in his Matt Stone Racing Commodore, as the 2022 champion makes his first Super2 start since his crowning day at Adelaide in 2022.
The DUNLOP Super2 Series return to Sandown on Saturday for Boost Mobile Qualifying at 10:45am AEDT.
