Bayley Hall tops opening Super2 practice in Darwin
40-minute session heavily disrupted by heavy Jordyn Sinni crash
Super2 holding first ever Darwin round this weekend
Eggleston Motorsport rookie Bayley Hall has topped the first ever DUNLOP Super2 Series session at Darwin, putting more than a quarter of a second on the field in Practice 1.
However, the session was disrupted by a heavy crash for Jordyn Sinni, who thumped the wall in the final sector in the #81 Commodore.
The 2025 Sydney round winner locked up, skipped across the gravel and made substantial contact with the tyre wall, leaving Matt Chahda Motorsport with significant front end damage to repair.
The red flags flew just past the halfway point of the 40-minute session, with the red flags withdrawn after a break in proceedings of approximately 15 minutes.
The name of the game was just putting laps on the board in the opening session of the weekend, which was the first official Super2 session since February.
Off the bat, Tickford assumed their usual position at the pointy end of the field, whilst limits were being pushed at Turn 1 in particular, with Ryan Tomsett and Tommy Smith having early offs at the end of the pit straight.
Blanchard Racing Team duo Lochie Dalton and Bailey Sweeny also went long at Turn 1, with Sweeny smashing over the outside entry kerb as he pinched an outside front.
Nash Morris was fastest at the time of the red flag with a 1:08.6390s, with Sweeny, Ben Gomersall, and Matt Hillyer all within a tenth of a second.
The session went back to green with six minutes remaining, with Bayley Hall shooting up to the top on a 1:08.3758s despite a scrappy final sector.
Cody Burcher and Ayrton Hodson both ran off at the final corner within 10 seconds of one another, whilst Elliott Cleary and Zak Best also ran long at Turn 1.
Hall would further improve his marker to a 1:08.2561s, which no one could beat, Sweeny going the closest on a 1:08.5161s.
Ben Gomersall finished the session third ahead of Tickford teammate Morris, with Hillyer, Campbell Logan, Brad Vaughan, Reuben Goodall, Lochie Dalton, and Alice Buckley rounding out the top 10.
The DUNLOP Super2 Series return to the track for Practice 2 at 3:50pm local time/4:20pm AEST.
