Campbell Logan steals Super2 Series lead with Sandown sweep
Logan takes provisional nine-point lead to Adelaide
Seven drivers in mathematical contention for 2026 title
Campbell Logan has poached the lead of the DUNLOP Super2 Series after completing a perfect weekend at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500.
The Tasmanian secured a career first clean sweep of a Super2 weekend, and will provisionally enter Adelaide with just a nine-point advantage over Brad Vaughan at the conclusion of a dramatic weekend.
A quiet run to fifth in a repaired Blanchard Racing Team Ford saw Lochie Dalton minimise the points damage, and he will enter Adelaide third in the standings.
Logan nailed his start from pole position for the second day in a row, and by the end of the first lap he had built up a 0.7s gap over teammate Ben Gomersall.
Nash Morris got a poor start from fourth, and fell behind Dalton, who battled with Vaughan through Turns 2 and 3, with Morris once again pouncing at Turn 4, though this time with Dalton leaving a wide berth.
The front of the field then tucked into line astern, with Logan maintaining his buffer over Gomersall. Vaughan was also seven tenths off the back of Gomersall, but was having to wring the neck of his Brad Jones Racing Commodore to stay in touch.
He would fall back from Gomersall in the second half of the race, with Morris closing to within two tenths of the #80 Holden as the race entered its final 10 minutes.
However, both Logan and Vaughan would end up stretching their respective margins out to beyond a second as the race entered its final five laps, whilst Dalton also fell back into the clutches of Reuben Goodall in the fight for fifth.
The Blanchard Racing Team Ford ran wide at the exit of Turn 9 on the penultimate lap, and whilst Goodall was able to close up on to the rear bar, Dalton held on to claim fifth.
But it wasn't enough to hold on to the series lead, as Logan secured a perfect 300-point weekend at a crucial juncture to poach the series lead.
Gomersall finished a second behind his teammate in second, whilst Vaughan rounded out the race podium. Morris and Goodall completed the round podium in a Tickford sweep, with Morris to enter Adelaide 42 points behind Logan.
The race ran green for all 40 minutes and 30 laps, despite Eggleston Motorsport teammates Aaron Love and Elliott Cleary clashing at the high-speed Turn 6, and Matt Stone Racing's Ayrton Hodson running into the Turn 6 gravel twice.
Logan, Vaughan, Dalton, Morris, and Goodall (-132) will all enter Adelaide in title contention, whilst Gomersall (-262) and Bayley Hall (-297) are mathematical chances with 300 points on offer.
The 2026 DUNLOP Super2 Series will conclude at the bp Adelaide Grand Final from November 26-29.
