If ever there was a time to strike form in the DUNLOP Super2 Series, Brad Vaughan has found it.
Vaughan continued to fight a lone hand for Holden at the most recent round in Bathurst, claiming his second win of the season after making a bold pass on Nash Morris at Murray's Corner.
The win came at a crucial juncture in the title fight, with the gap from Vaughan to series leader Lochie Dalton closing to 114 points, though Dalton minimised the damage by finishing second.
It was a sweet victory for Vaughan, who pre-event had admitted to Supercars.com that: "I know we have the speed, but we just haven't maximised it yet, that'll be our focus in the second half of the year."
The 2022 Super3 champion has been brimming with confidence throughout the 2026 season, after dominating the opening race of the year in Sydney, a venue where just 12 months earlier he had finished 22nd, and 45 seconds off victory.
A bullish Vaughan declared that his Brad Jones Racing squad was the best placed to make a title run after his early success, and his Bathurst win only solidified his place his Dalton's biggest title challenger.
“I feel like we always get there slowly across the weekend, so it was good to get the car speed here this weekend," Vaughan said after Bathurst.
“Just can’t thank the guys enough at BJR, just a really good group of people who put their hard work in, and the late hours at the workshop and on the racetrack that make it possible.
“Yeah, even if we don’t roll out as fast as the Mustangs, eventually we get there. We’ll see.”
Now, the South Australian heads to two of his happiest hunting grounds, as he looks to secure BJR's first Super2 title since 2004. All Holden Commodore runners, including Vaughan, will receive a slight parity adjustment ahead
Vaughan is arguably the form driver across the final two venues in Sandown and Adelaide, having picked up the two most recent Super2 race wins at each circuit.
The wins came in two different teams, claiming his first ever Super2 win at Sandown with Tickford in 2024, whilst he also ticked off his maiden round win with BJR in Adelaide last year off the strength of a win in the finale.
The South Australian has also started off pole in the most recent races at Sandown and Adelaide, though he inherited Sunday pole at the latter following a qualifying washout.
All Holden Commodore runners, including Vaughan, will receive a slight parity adjustment ahead of the penultimate round at Sandown.
Super2 action commences at Sandown with two practice sessions on Friday November 6.
