All-Subaru line-up for Supercars Safety Car and Course Cars through 2027
Shannons Insurance to serve as naming rights partner of fleet
2026 Supercars season starts February 20-22 at DUNLOP Sydney 500
Supercars has today unveiled its new Safety Car and course car fleet for the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship, marking a historic first for the category‑track support vehicles, supported by Shannons Insurance.
Shannons Insurance is once again throwing its support behind Supercars Safety Car program, while Subaru becomes the exclusive supplier of all on-track support vehicles.
For the 2026 season, Subaru expands its existing role — having served as the Official Course Car Vehicle of Supercars since 2024 — to now also supply the Official Safety Car and Official Medical Car.
Leading the refreshed fleet is the Subaru WRX AWD tS SpecB, which will serve as both the Official Safety Car and Official Course Car, while the rugged and highly capable All-new Subaru Outback AWD Wilderness steps in as the Official Medical Vehicle.
The new program will also feature a bold new look across all Safety and Course Cars, delivered in partnership with Shannons Insurance, which strengthens its support of Supercars in 2026.
The evolved partnership arrives at a crucial time for the championship, following a sharp increase in Safety Car callouts since 2022.
The thrilling 2025 season saw unforgettable on-track battles, leading to 29 Safety Car deployments, underlining the importance of a responsive and reliable on-track safety fleet. ‑track safety fleet.
The Subaru WRX AWD tS Spec B will now take on that responsibility as the new Safety Car, with Supercars officials set to debut the full fleet ahead of the opening round in Sydney this weekend.
Supercars Head of Commercial Craig Dontas said Subaru’s expanded involvement, coupled with Shannons’ continued support, reinforces the championship’s commitment to safety and performance.
“Subaru’s expanded involvement in 2026 — combined with Shannons Insurance supporting our refreshed Safety Car program — strengthens a partnership that plays a vital role in delivering safe and exciting racing,” Dontas said.
“With the on-track action as wild as ever, it’s essential that our Safety, Course and Medical vehicles are ready for anything throughout the 2026 season. We’re thrilled to have Subaru step into the full suite of vehicles and can’t wait to see the WRX AWD tS Spec Band All-new Outback AWD Wilderness on track in Sydney.”
Mim Haysom, Executive General Manager, Brand and Customer Experience, Suncorp said Shannons’ deeper involvement in the Safety Car program is a natural next step for the brand.
“As the insurer for motoring enthusiasts, Shannons has always had a strong interest in safety and protection within Australian motoring, so expanding our support of Supercars’ Safety Car program is a perfect fit,”
“We’re excited to partner with Supercars on this next chapter and look forward to seeing the new fleet — featuring the bold new Shannons livery — in action throughout the 2026 Championship.”
Subaru Australia’s Head of Brand, Trent Whitechurch, is delighted to see an increased presence from the beloved brand at Supercars events.
“This partnership continues to evolve in a way that feels authentic to Subaru,” Whitechurch said.
“Expanding our role within Supercars allows us to contribute meaningfully to the championship, particularly in areas where safety and reliability are paramount.
“As we enter our third year with Supercars, we’re proud to be deepening our involvement and connecting with fans at events across the 2026 season and beyond.”
