2026 Australian Grand Prix track schedule locked in for March 5-8 event
Supercars action headlined by four days of door-to-door sprint racing
There will be more twilight Supercars racing at the upcoming Formula 1 QATAR AIRWAYS Australian Grand Prix 2026, which hosts Round 2 of the Repco Supercars Championship.
The Australian Grand Prix Corporation has published the track schedule for the 2026 event, which will be held at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit on March 5-8.
Since 2018, Supercars gave raced for championship points at the Melbourne SuperSprint, with the overall point-scorer for the weekend awarded the Larry Perkins Perpetual Trophy.
Will Brown is the two-time defending winner of the Perkins Trophy, following overall Melbourne SuperSprint victories in 2024 and 2025.
Supercars have staged some of the most thrilling race in recent years at Albert Park, courtesy of the super-fast track layout, no pit stops and the ability to follow closer to rivals in the Gen3 era.
Supercars will be on track on all four days of the event, headlined by a mammoth schedule on Thursday March 5.
All 24 Supercars will roll out for two Practice sessions, two Boost Mobile Qualifying sessions, and the first race of the weekend, all in one day.
Friday's race has been shifted from mid-afternoon to late evening, with a 2025 start of 2:50pm local time replaced by a jump of 5:30pm in 2026.
Saturday's action features two Boost Mobile Qualifying sessions and the third 105km race of the weekend, before the Supercars action rounds out on Sunday with a short, sharp 80km sprint to decide the Perkins Trophy winner.
General Motors have a stranglehold on the Grand Prix, winning 15 consecutive races since 2022. Ford last won at Albert Park in 2019, when Mustangs swept the event.
