Triple Eight charging ahead with repairs on Broc Feeney's damaged Ford
Engine, rear and front clips, side removed on Ford after Sunday accident
Feeney's car struck by Zach Bates, Cooper Murray Camaros in incident
Triple Eight Race Engineering is charging ahead with repairs on Broc Feeney's damaged Ford Mustang before the trip to New Zealand.
The cars of Feeney, Cooper Murray and Zach Bates were damaged in an accident at the start of Sunday's Melbourne SuperSprint finale.
Feeney was tipped into a spin after a clash between Macauley Jones and Kai Allen, and spun into the path of Murray and Bates.
The Feeney car bore the brunt of the hit, while the Murray and Bates Camaros sustained significant front end damage. Notably, the rear right corner was torn out of the #88 Red Bull Ampol Ford, which also sustained front end damage.
Cars have since returned to base, with teams working around the clock to get ready for sea-freight trips to New Zealand next week.
Such was the scramble to get the car back in time for repairs, that Feeney's father Paul stepped in to help the transporter return home sooner.
The engine has been removed as a precaution, with the car stripped overnight. The front and rear clips have also been removed, with the front also removed as a precaution.
In a team video, Dutton paid tribute to Feeney senior, and revealed the "graveyard" of damaged parts left behind by the accident.
"Broc's dad Paul actually jumped in the truck to get this back sooner, so we had two truckies swap out halfway through so that the car got back sooner," said Dutton, who also criticised driving standards following the crash.
"Engine's out, suspension's out, the side of the car's off, the transaxle's out... hopefully [the transaxle] isn't completely dead."
