Will Brown, Broc Feeney react to Triple Eight Ford switch
Triple Eight recently announced switch from GM to Ford from 2026
Triple Eight stars determined to win title, Bathurst with GM
Will Brown and Broc Feeney are determined to bring home championship and Bathurst success for General Motors, following news Triple Eight will switch from Chevrolet to Ford.
New broke of Triple Eight Race Engineering’s switch to Ford during the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour, where Triple Eight drivers Brown and Feeney were both competing.
Both Brown and Feeney have competed in GM equipment in their full-time Supercars careers, with the former solely driving Holdens or Chevrolets in Super2 and Supercars.
The superstar duo unveiled their final Triple Eight GM Supercar livery at Highlands Motorsport Park on Saturday, where they are both competing in the New Zealand Grand Prix.
Speaking in a post to social media during the Bathurst weekend, Supercars champion Brown was looking forward to the future, but wanted to send GM out on a high with the year’s biggest rewards.
“It’s an interesting one, but for us as drivers, we put all our trust in the management at Triple Eight to make the right decision moving forward. I’m sure they’ve done that,” Brown said.
“I’ve been in a GM car since the start and lucky enough to drive in a Holden before they finished up here in Australia. I’ve really enjoyed my time doing that and obviously it’s a big change for myself going to Ford. Thanks to all those supporters, I hope you can follow me as a driver and maybe even come across to the dark side.
“I’m also looking forward to the future. Ford is investing a lot of money in racing around the world and there’s a lot of exciting things coming up there, so I’m looking forward to that.
“For me it’s about finishing off strong this year. I’d love to try and win the championship again this year or Bathurst for GM, one last time.“It’s obviously massive news, I’m sure there’ll be some mixed emotions.”
Commodores and Camaros have won nine of the last 10 Bathurst 1000s dating back to 2015, and six of the last 10 drivers’ championships.
Save for a Super3 title win, and a short Super2 campaign and Bathurst debut with Tickford Racing in 2020, Feeney has also raced GM cars for the majority of his touring car career.
Feeney has cut an historic figure in GM’s Supercars history, winning Holden’s last Supercars race at the 2022 Adelaide 500, while also becoming the first driver to steer a Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro.
The 22-year-old echoed Brown’s sentiments, insisting he wants to taste Bathurst and championship glory with GM before Triple Eight’s big move.“Obviously huge news for Triple Eight, we're swapping sides,” Feeney said.
"Jamie [Whincup] and the team are really excited about the future, and so am I. So, I'm really looking forward to 2026 and all the opportunities that come with joining Ford.
"But it also means the end of a relationship, and GM's been a part of my Supercars career for a few years now. I was lucky enough to get my first ever win in the factory Holden for the last ever Holden race at Adelaide, which was awesome. And then to be a part of the the Gen3 Camaro process, I was lucky enough to be the first to drive the Camaro here in Australia.
“Most importantly, to have you Holden fans cheering us on over the last few years has been amazing. So, I can't thank everyone at GM Australia enough.
"All you fans, we may be switching brands next year, but our goals will always be the same and that's to go and win races and championships. So, I really hope you guys can still support us.
"We still have 12 months to go. I'd love to get my first championship and Bathurst in a GM to really send it off on a high this year."
Tickets to the Sydney 500 - Opening Round, on February 21-23, are on now.
