  • GM teams "not obsessed" with meeting Darwin record, says Roland Dane

  • Camaros are undefeated at Hidden Valley in Supercars' Gen3 era

  • Ford has won 12 of the first 16 races, versus Chevrolet's one

PremiAir Racing boss Roland Dane insists General Motors teams aren’t hanging onto the Camaro’s undefeated Darwin record, in what looms as a big weekend for the Chevrolet camp.

The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship has been dominated by Ford, which has won 12 of the 16 races, and claimed 11 of the 16 pole positions.

The form has largely been triggered by Triple Eight’s move to Ford, given the powerhouse team won over 70% of GM’s races between 2010 and 2025.

Brodie Kostecki has also lifted the Shell V-Power Racing Team back into championship discussions, while Penrite Racing has also taken a significant step forward.

Fords turned a winless record at Albert Park in the Gen3 era into a perfect weekend sweep earlier this year. Darwin is the final frontier for Ford, while GM heads to its final stronghold.

Dane, though, insists Camaros teams aren’t looking at the stat sheet.

“We’ve got a very good arrangement between the teams, which is led by GM,” Dane told media on Thursday.

“We're not obsessed with looking at, ‘Oh, Darwin, we went well there before or here or wherever’.

"It's just collectively looking at it and seeing whether, we're maximising whatever we can.”

Dane maintains GM teams simply have to do a better job to catch up to the leading Ford teams, while refusing to get into parity or “A-driver” debates which have dominated headlines this season.

"I think you have to look at it in the context of the teams, and this is why I haven't got hung up about parity and everything, et cetera,” Dane said.

“Undoubtedly, we would all aspire to be top teams, like the drivers would all aspire to be top drivers, but they're not in the GM camp at the moment. We've got to do a better job.

“The best team on our side of the fence, if you like, is Team 18. Anton is the best driver, and he's a great benchmark for us to have.

“But we're not Triple Eight, right? Yet. We're not Groves yet, you know? Those teams are, for good reason, at the top end of pit lane. So we're not obsessed with whether it's Ford or GM or here at Toyota at this track or that track.

"We're just obsessed with trying to do a better job collectively between us all.”

Track action in Darwin commences on Friday morning.
