Broc Feeney led a Chevrolet top seven in final practice at the Snowy River Caravans Tasmania Super 440, with title contenders scattered up and down the field.
As it was in Practice 1, Feeney was quickest of all, with PremiAir Racing driver Richie Stanaway denying Triple Eight a Friday one-two.
Andre Heimgartner, Jack Le Brocq, Cooper Murray and Cameron Hill completed the all-Camaro top seven, with Penrite Racing rookie Kai Allen the lead Ford driver in eighth.
Tickford Racing star Cam Waters was ninth ahead of Team 18's Anton De Pasquale, with Taupō winner Matt Payne 15th, Brodie Kostecki 18th and Chaz Mostert 23rd.
David Reynolds, who was second in Practice 1, was 14th, with Ryan Wood dropping from first to 11th in the closing minutes.
Feeney opened proceedings with a 52.1854s, with Waters lowering the benchmark to a 51.7876s on the second laps. De Pasquale jumped to the top with a 51.6940s, before Brown marched on to record a 51.5426s on his third flying lap.
Through the opening runs, Brown and De Pasquale were separated by just 0.1514s, with Waters, Payne, Wood, Feeney, Reynolds, James Golding, Hill and Allen rounding out the top 10.
Mostert was only 22nd, with a 52.1649s, some 0.6s down on Wood, with Courtney and Cameron 23rd and 24th.
Feeney kicked off the second runs with an improvement on his second lap, but only jumped up to third. He went on with it, yet still ended up 0.12s behind Brown. Wood jumped to second with a 51.6314s, before improving to a 51.5697s by the halfway point.
Brown returned and continued to show strong pace, dropping in a 51.6101s that proved just 0.0675s down on his benchmark. Hill loomed to go faster, but a lock-up at Turn 6 ruined the Canberran's lap.
The quiet achiever was Allen, who moved to second before jumping to top spot on his second push lap with a 51.5045s. Stanaway vaulted to third with a 51.5492s, and with Wood just behind, the top four were covered by 0.0652s.
In the closing minutes, Wood fired to the top with a 51.3586s, putting 0.1459s on Allen's previous benchmark. Fullwood closed to within 0.1s of Wood's time, with Golding jumping to third.
Wood marched on, only to strike traffic on consecutive laps on the back straight, notably remonstrating to both his team and Allen. It opened the door for Stanaway and Le Brocq to jump ahead, before Feeney split them both.
Among a late flurry of times, both Erebus drivers moved into the top five before Feeney took over top spot, as Thomas Randle made a mistake at the hairpin.
Randle's error was one of many in the session; Allen bowled a wide on the grass exiting Turn 7, before fellow rookie Murray was first to fall foul of the Turn 4 hairpin, running onto the escape road. Stanaway, meanwhile, cut across the Turn 1 run-off.
Supercars action in Tasmania will resume on Saturday with back-to-back Boost Mobile Qualifying sessions from 9:05am AEST.
