Rylan Gray keeps Race 1 win after post-race investigation
Tickford star cleared of any wrongdoing after alleged Safety Car restart breach
Gray's points lead now 144 points with five races remaining
Rylan Gray is now the official winner of Race 1 of the Dunlop Super2 Series at the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440 following a post-race investigation into an alleged Safety Car restart breach.
The series leader finished 2.9164 seconds ahead of Brad Vaughan's Brad Jones Racing Commodore in a dominant performance, having set the lap record following the race's sole Safety Car restart.
However, TV cameras showed Vaughan rattling the back of Gray's Mustang as the Safety Car pulled away from the field, raising eyebrows as to whether or not the teenager maintained the 80km/h control speed.
Officials investigated the incident post-race, with Vaughan potentially in line to claim BJR's first Super2 victory since Chris Pither claimed victory at Townsville in 2014, however there was no case to answer.
Gray's second win of the season has seen his series lead blow out by 90 points. with the gap to second now 144 points thanks to results of seventh and 17th for teammates Nash Morris and Reuben Goodall.
With Lochie Dalton claiming fourth, the trio are now separated by just 12 points in the fight for second, with Morris jumping ahead of Goodall heading into today's Ipswich finale, with five races remaining in the 2025 season.
Boost Mobile Qualifying begins at 9:45am AEST, before the final race of Round 4 begins at 12:25pm AEST.
