Boost Mobile Top Five Shootout returns for Perth Super2 round
Perth the first time Super2 will hold a Shootout in 2026
Shootout to be held on Saturday ahead of opening race of Round 3
The Boost Mobile Top Five Shootout is set to return for the third round of the 2026 DUNLOP Super2 Series.
Introduced last year, the one-lap shootout will return for the first time in 2026 in Perth, with a shootout set to decide the Boost Mobile Pole Award for the opening race of the weekend on the Saturday.
The addition of a Top Five Shootout was revealed in the release of the full schedule for the Bosch Power Tools Super 440 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Shootout will follow the usual 20 minutes of Boost Mobile Qualifying on the morning of Saturday, August 1, with the top five drivers progressing through to the Shootout, starting at 12:00pm local time.
The Boost Mobile Top Five Shootout is a scaled down version of Top Ten Shootouts seen throughout the Repco Supercars Championship season, giving young drivers a chance to experience one-lap qualifying runs before they graduate to the main game.
Zach Bates and Lochie Dalton claimed poles in the two Top Five Shootouts held last year at Tasmania and Bathurst.
Dalton leads the 2026 season off the back of two races wins from four starts, with a 75-point advantage over Darwin round winner Campbell Logan. Brad Vaughan, who won the opening race of the season, is third in points, 78 back.
Blanchard Racing Team recruit Dalton also leads the pole tally for the season, having claimed the last three Boost Mobile Pole Awards on the bounce, whilst Zak Best claimed the first pole of the season in Sydney.
The third round of the DUNLOP Super2 Series will take place at the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 from July 31-August 2.
