Round 2 of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series at the Snowy River Caravans Tasmania Super 440 is set to pose a unique challenge to the rising stars of the Supercars paddock.
23 drivers are set to contest the second round, an unchanged field from Round 1 in Sydney, and inexperience at Symmons Plains is a common theme among the grid.
Given Super2 last raced in Launceston in 2018, every driver will be competing in a Tasmanian Super2 round for the first time in their careers, but for a large chunk of the field, it will be a completely new challenge altogether.
Nine drivers will be making their first ever appearances at Symmons Plains, including series leader Jordyn Sinni, Race 1 winner Cameron McLeod, and reigning champion Zach Bates.
Other drivers to be making their first appearances in Launceston include 2025 rookies Bradi Owen, Ryan Tomsett, and Max Geoghegan, alongside Jobe Stewart, Brad Vaughan, and Reuben Goodall.
Of the 14 drivers who have raced in Launceston before, three have already logged laps of the historic circuit this year at the opening round of the Trans Am Series in March.
Ben Gomersall, Nash Morris, and Jarrod Hughes all contested the four-race event, logging valuable miles in V8 machinery, which was Morris' third Tasmanian appearance in the category.
Tasmanian locals Lochie Dalton and Campbell Logan have a clear experience advantage as would be expected, having cut their teeth in grassroots state titles, and Dalton also accumulating several Trans Am starts.
Dalton, Logan, and Morris are the only drivers in the field who have competed in more than 10 races at Symmons Plains, combining for 70 total race starts between them.
Outside of race starts, it's also worth noting that rookie Bailey Sweeny completed a test day in his #33 Blanchard Racing Team Mustang at Symmons Plains last week.
Just how quickly the likes of Sinni, McLeod, and Bates can get up to speed on the tricky bullring, and whether or not Dalton and Logan can make the most of their local knowledge will be intriguing storylines to watch.
Round 2 of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series will take place at the Snowy River Caravans Tasmania Super 440 from May 9-11. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
