Round 1 winner Jordyn Sinni has been left to lament a difficult Round 2 of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series in Tasmania that has seen him tumble down the series standings.

A breakthrough race win in Race 2 of the season in Sydney saw the Melburnian enter the Snowy River Caravans Tasmania Super 440 weekend with a slim points lead, and his momentum seemed as though it has carried in early practice.

The third-year driver for Eggleston Motorsport finished third in the final practice session of Friday, topped by teammate and reigning champion Zach Bates, however that was as smooth as it would be for the remainder of the weekend.

Sinni suffered with a power steering problem in Boost Mobile Qualifying on Saturday morning, after Bates had suffered a similar issue in Practice 1, with Sinni ultimately qualifying 11th.

A bruising Saturday encounter saw Sinni caught up in the aftermath of a Lap 1 melee at the hairpin that involved Bates and fellow teammate Elliott Cleary.

Sinni was involved contact with Nash Morris down the back straight, and then tagged Jackson Walls at Turn 6, but still managed to bring home his battered #54 Commodore in sixth, however losing the series lead to winner Rylan Gray.

Worse was to come, as the first lap skirmish had damaged the exhaust on Sinni's car, with the bodywork behind the exhaust ultimately catching fire as the car returned to the paddock post-race.

Although the blaze was quickly extinguished and the car repaired, it was an even more catastrophic power steering failure in Sunday qualifying that dumped Sinni to the rear of the grid.

The final race of the weekend saw Sinni almost get cleaned up in a Turn 2 incident on Lap 11 that wiped out Erebus Academy stablemates Jobe Stewart and Max Geoghegan, with the Eggleston Commodore touring through the gravel in avoidance.

A finish of 16th capped off Sinni's miserable weekend, and completed a 93-point swing against the 22-year-old, who is now fifth in points, 87 points behind Gray.

"Another weekend all wrapped up, unfortunately it was a weekend to forget with many gremlins getting in the way of a good result," said Sinni in a social media post.

"A massive thankyou to the crew at Eggleston Motorsport for getting it sorted every time and putting me back on track."

Round 3 of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series will take place at the NTI Townsville 500 from July 11-13.
