Jack Le Brocq out of contract with Erebus at the end of 2025
32-year-old claimed season's best result on Sunday in Darwin
Erebus CEO Barry Ryan insists focus is all on on-track performance
Erebus Motorsport CEO Barry Ryan has stated there have been no discussions on the re-signing of Jack Le Brocq beyond the end of his current contract that ends this year.
Le Brocq, a former Erebus junior, made a return to the team in 2024 after a starring season with Matt Stone Racing, and finished 14th in the standings after missing both races in Adelaide to attend the birth of his first child, daughter Romy.
It's been a quiet start to season 2025 for the two-time race winner, only having a best finish of sixth before the betr Darwin Triple Crown last weekend.
It only looked like it would get worse for the 32-year-old when he copped the worst of a high-speed Safety Car restart crash in the opening race of the weekend, with his left front wheel being ripped from the Camaro.
The Erebus crew managed to get the car sent out mere hours later for Race 18, before Le Brocq put in a stunning qualifying display on Sunday to start on the front row in a car Ryan admitted wasn't 100%.
Le Brocq remained at the front of the pack for the whole race, and claimed his best finish of the season with a fine fourth place, and kept himself within touching distance of a potential Finals berth.
The result was well-timed for the Melburnian, whose current contract with Erebus Motorsport ends at the end of this season, with rookie teammate Cooper Murray already confirmed for 2026.
However, at the Friday teams press conference in Darwin, Ryan said that there is no rush on Erebus to make decisions in the driver market for 2026 and beyond, with Le Brocq still being given time to prove his talents.
"I'm nowhere near thinking about that yet, we've got Cooper locked in, and Jack as I've said, it's up to him to show us that he's still the driver we want, and it's up to us to show him we're the team he wants to be in," Ryan explained.
"We don't really want to talk about it for a while, we don't need to, so we'll just get on with our business and make sure we can get results, it's all we want to do."
Ryan says that a Finals berth for Le Brocq is a realistic target at 130 points below the cut off, whilst he also believes his lofty expectations of 23-year-old Murray can also be met.
"It's definitely a target getting Jack into Finals, he's 15th at the moment and lost a lot of points for silly things, a couple of team things, a couple of Jack things," Ryan said.
"He's only 132 points behind 10th I think, that's just one good round. It's 150 points to win a race, or 130 for a podium, so if we can just have one good round and a good Bathurst, get him in that 10, and then see where it goes.
"That would be a really good result for our year to try and get him in the 10, and get Cooper a podium or a win."
Drivers will vie for three wins in Townsville, which will host a championship race on the Friday for the first time. Tickets for the NTI Townsville 500, held on July 11-13, are on sale now.
