Broc Feeney's first taste of Supercars machinery in 2025 came with an unexpected twist, with the Triple Eight driver joined on track by an historic Formula 1 car.

Feeney and Supercars teammate Will Brown were headline acts at the New Zealand Grand Prix last weekend, with Brown winning Sunday's prestigious feature race.

Making his competitive open wheel debut, Feeney was a shock pole-sitter, but fell back to sixth after a challenging race at Highlands Motorsport Park.

Feeney and Brown also helped Triple Eight take the covers off the team's new 2025 Red Bull Ampol Racing Chevrolet Camaro livery, with the New Zealand reveal a Supercars first for the team.

Supercars and motorsport fans were treated to the unveiling in pit lane as well as hot laps around the Highlands circuit with Feeney at the wheel.

The Camaro in question was Shane van Gisbergen's 2023 Bathurst-winning Supercar, which was the first Gen3 car to win the Great Race. The car, owned by Tony Quinn, was dressed with the 2025 livery as part of the special launch.

Earlier in the week, the Camaro was also driven by rising open wheel star Arvid Lindblad, who clinched the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship title at Highlands.

During the weekend, Feeney also shared the track with Quinn, who got behind the wheel of the Tyrrell P34 F1 car he purchased last year.

The Tyrrell P34 F1 car has been restored as was campaigned in the 1976 season by Jody Scheckter and Patrick Depailler. The striking blue car is best known for boasting six wheels, with four at the front.

The Tyrrell is the third F1 car in Quinn’s collection, alongside a 1991 Benetton B191 driven by Michael Schumacher, and an ex-David Brabham Simtek.

The new-look Red Bull Ampol Camaros will roll out at the pre-season test day at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 19, and Thrifty Sydney 500 - Opening Round on February 21-23.

Tickets for the test day and Sydney 500 - Opening Round are available now.
