British Red Bull Junior driver Arvid Lindblad has turned laps in a Bathurst-winning Triple Eight Chevrolet Camaro Gen3 Supercar.

Lindblad, 17, got behind the wheel of Shane van Gisbergen’s 2023 Bathurst-winning Camaro at Highlands Motorsport Park.

The Briton is currently contesting the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship in New Zealand.

According to recent media reports, senior figures at Red Bull regard Lindblad more highly than any recent junior since Max Verstappen.

Lindblad’s CTFROC season is pivotal to the teenager’s hopes to gain extra FIA Super Licence points on his road to Formula 1, and has won six of the season's 12 races so far.

Lindblad, who does not turn 18 until August, sampled F1 machinery for the first time last year and will make the jump to FIA Formula 2 this season.

Ahead of this weekend’s New Zealand Grand Prix, the teen was handed laps in the ex-van Gisbergen Gen3 Camaro that is owned by Tony Quinn.

In a video posted on Thursday, Lindblad said it was the first time he had driven a race car with a gear stick, but was full of praise for the V8-powered Supercar.

“I’d definitely trade a couple of laps in the CTFROC to do a few more in this because that was pretty insane to drive,” Lindblad said.

Lindblad has dominated the ongoing CTFROC season, and will take on Supercars stars Will Brown and Broc Feeney in this weekend’s Grand Prix.

Triple Eight is also using the Highlands event to reveal its 2025 Supercars livery, which will be the team’s last in Camaros before switching to Ford from 2026.
