Broc Feeney claims third pole of 2026 in tight Shootout
Feeney pipped title rival Matt Payne by 0.0676s
Rookie Jayden Ojeda claims a career best start on Row 2
Broc Feeney has snapped a nine-race pole drought to secure his third pole of the season at the Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440, as PremiAir Racing rookie Jayden Ojeda turned heads.
Having snared a record 19 pole positions in 2025, Feeney returned to qualifying form in the Shootout, edging out championship rival Matt Payne in a typically tight Tasmanian Shootout.
Also starring was Ojeda, who will start a career best third to continue a strong weekend for PremiAir Racing, leading the Chevrolet runners on the grid.
Shell V-Power Racing Team star Brodie Kostecki was the biggest loser, dropping from provisional pole to end up fifth behind Feeney's teammate Will Brown.
Ryan Wood was first out for Walkinshaw TWG Racing, and put together a clean run to set the bar at a 51.8212s, around a second slower than his time to get into the Shootout.
After his wild ride in Q2 following contact with Anton De Pasquale, Aaron Cameron was the sole Blanchard Racing Team runner in the Shootout, and all but threw the Mustang off the road at the final corner, but just missed out by 0.0491s.
Thomas Randle was the only Tickford Mustang, but could only manage a 52.1149s to be two tenths away from the marker, which was immediately moved by De Pasquale on a 51.6194s.
Next out was Brown, who was looking to repeat his Sunday pole efforts from 12 months ago, but he could only manage a time 0.1099s away from the #18 Camaro.
That left the top five from Q2, who were only separated by 0.09s at the end of Q2, and it was Kai Allen who would kick off the second half of the Shootout.
Allen could only muster third, but PremiAir rookie Ojeda was the next to go fastest. A slight lock up at Turn 4 threatened to derail the lap, however the #31 Camaro made it a provisional Chevrolet 1-2 by 0.0694s.
Ojeda's time at the top was short-lived, as 2025 Boost Mobile Pole Champion Feeney then moved the marker forward by almost two tenths of a second with a storming lap.
Only his closest title rivals could stop him, with Payne and provisional pole-sitter Kostecki the last two runners.
Payne went faster in the first sector, but slightly faded in the back half of the lap to go 0.0676s slower than Feeney, however Kostecki threatened to go faster than both with the fastest first sector of all.
However, an ultra-wide line at the Turn 4 hairpin proved costly right the way down the back straight, with the #17 Ford the biggest loser in the session going from first to fifth.
Feeney and Payne will lead the field at lights out, with Ojeda and De Pasquale making up an all-Chevrolet second row. Kostecki, Brown, Allen, Wood, Cameron, and Randle complete the top 10 on the grid.
Race 16 of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship will begin at 2:45pm AEST.
