The four-strong Finals Driver field for the bp Adelaide Grand Final has been set in a dramatic finale at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500.
Broc Feeney, Chaz Mostert, Will Brown, and Kai Allen will be the four drivers fighting for the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship at the Adelaide Parklands Circuit.
Allen benefitted on misfortune for his Bathurst-winning teammate Matt Payne to sneak into the last transfer spot with a fine run to sixth, whilst Feeney regained the points lead by virtue of a dominant win.
Payne was comfortably in position to punch his ticket to Adelaide, and was in position to further strengthen his cause when he fired down the inside of Cam Waters at Turn 1 with 31 laps to go.
Payne briefly moved up to fourth, however Waters fired back down the inside at Turn 4, clattering into the side of the #19 Penrite Mustang.
In a moment of madness, Payne's steering was damaged, Waters picked up a right rear puncture and a busted right front shock absorber, with both of their Finals hopes dashed. Both drivers would return to the pits for repairs.
It capped off an implosion for the Tickford star, who earlier had received a five-second penalty after being adjudged to have helped Will Brown off the road as the pair battled on cold slicks out of the pits.
Compounding Tickford's misery, Thomas Randle endured another tough day, finishing 13th, leaving both of their drivers in sixth and seventh in points.
Will Brown starred with another phenomenal recovery drive after starting 17th, soaring to his second podium finish in as many races in third.
Having qualified yesterday by virtue of a race win, Chaz Mostert's day was compounded twice, first by a wheel nut issue for WAU teammate Ryan Wood that left Mostert on dry tyres on a wet track.
However, the #25 bravely was the first to put slicks on, which had initially launched him back into podium contention before he fired into the Turn 4 tyres.
Regardless, Mostert still recovered to fourth to claim the second seeding heading into Adelaide.
When the points reset, it will leave Feeney on 5050 points, Mostert on 5030, Brown on 5015, and Allen on 5000.
The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship concludes at the bp Adelaide Grand Final from November 27-30. Tickets are on sale now.
