Winton’s introduction to the iRacing platform has impressed Tickford Racing rookie Thomas Randle.

The venue of this weekend’s Pizza Hut Winton SuperSprint has been immortalised online.

The Victorian circuit, which opened in 1961, has recently been added to iRacing’s extensive catalogue.

The 3.0km circuit has been dubbed 'Australia’s Action Track’ and will host Supercars for the first time since 2019.

Teams, including Randle’s Ford squad, have tested extensively at Winton in the years since.

However, this weekend marks the first time Randle will race in the main game at Winton.

"It’s pretty cool that a track like Winton has been immortalised on iRacing," said Randle, who supplied a lap of his own to Supercars.com.

"I’ve done so much testing there so cutting laps on the sim almost felt like second nature.

"We have some really cool tracks in Australia and Winton is no different, it’s pretty unique.

"I did a rookie day there last week to try a few things and help get my eye in for the weekend.

"Being able to cut laps on the iRacing version is an added bonus."

Tickford rolled out its strongest weekend of the season last time out in Perth.

Cam Waters and James Courtney both scored podiums, with the former missing out on a win due to a penalty.

Randle and Jake Kostecki also showed signs of pace, but went unrewarded.

Should Tickford Mustangs avoid drama, Randle is confident results will be there for the taking.

"We all had really good car speed in Perth, so we’re pretty confident," said sim connoisseur Randle, who owns Dream Simulation.

"Cam and James got podiums and Jake and I were quick, but overall we had a lot of bad luck too.

"We had two first-lap incidents in both races on Sunday, so if we have clean races this weekend we should be in the top half of the field.

"It’s a track we know really well, so it’s a good time to act on some good momentum."

The 2022 season will resume at Winton this weekend. Purchase your tickets now.
