Mostert’s historic Supercar set for auction
Chaz Mostert's current Walkinshaw Andretti United Holden Commodore is set to cross the auction block this month.
The car - chassis WR026 - was built for Mostert ahead of the 2021 season, and he carried it to podiums in Bathurst in February.
Mostert drove the car to his first win with WAU at Symmons Plains earlier in April.
It will go under the hammer at the end of September, with current bidding sitting at more than $190,000.
The team confirmed WR026 will be the final Gen2-specification chassis it will ever build.
The car will also come with the Walkinshaw Racing V8 engine which Mostert and Lee Holdsworth will race with at this year's Repco Bathurst 1000.
"This is a rare and incredible opportunity to own a car that will go down in Australia's motorsport history books," WAU team principal Bruce Stewart said.
"Not only is it the car in which Chaz took his first win for our team, and his first-ever Supercars win in a Holden, but it’s also the last current-generation car we will build.
"It’s also the first time we are including an engine in the sale, which in itself is an incredible item to have the opportunity to own.
"That means when the car is delivered to its new owner, there will be nothing more to do.
"It will be ready to turn a lap, or ready to display as it raced.
"The engine they use in The Great Race will be the one delivered to the new owner at the end of 2022.
"The team at Lloyds Auctions do an amazing job, this car is part of a fantastic collection they are auctioning, and we can’t wait to see how it goes."
The car will be offered in its original condition by Lloyds Auctions, and will be delivered after the completion of the 2022 Supercars Championship season.
The car will be presented in full running condition, and will carry the specification it will compete in at the 2021 Repco Bathurst 1000.
