Porsche Carrera Cup rising star Bayley Hall has revealed the striking Indigenous livery he will carry in Darwin.
The 18-year-old has teamed up with one of Australia’s most celebrated Aboriginal artists, Kurun Warun, for the first official Supercars Indigenous Round at this weekend’s Merlin Darwin Triple Crown.
Noosa-based Indigenous artist Warun is from the Guntijamara tribe and a descendant of Truganini, the Tasmanian Indigenous queen and relation to singer, Archie Roach.
His famous pieces tell stories of the land, family and culture.
Warun’s paintings draw inspiration from the natural elements that surround him, such as slow-moving rivers, the stones underneath them, and the eels that swim through them.
A dancer and didgeridoo musician, Warun is also known for his performance at the 2000 Olympic Games.
Hall shares this honour of showcasing Warun’s work with famous names such as Michael Schumacher, Oprah Winfrey and Pierce Brosnan, who are all collectors of Warun’s Aboriginal dot painting artwork.
“I’m so appreciative to Kurun for getting behind me and giving me this privilege of using his design,” said Hall.
“We are yet to secure a naming rights sponsor for the 2022 season, so I wanted to help make a difference by donating my prime car real estate for this initiative.
“I am so excited to collaborate with Kuran, and have a platform to showcase his incredible designs while showing respect for the local Indigenous people of Darwin.”
Hidden Valley Raceway is another new track for Hall to learn in his rookie season.
The Darwin event is Hall’s fifth-ever round in a category.
“Even though he may be the least experienced in the field, he’s certainly moving forward in leaps and bounds with how fast he can adapt, said McElrea Racing team owner, Andy McElrea.
“With excellent race pace and craft, we are extremely happy with his progress.”
The Repco Supercars Championship field will return to the Northern Territory for the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown across June 17-19. Tickets are available here.
The event will be broadcast live on Foxtel and will be streamed on Kayo, and will be broadcast live and free on Seven.
