FORDPERFORMANCE Racing’s quartet has completed a demanding pre-season fitness campahead of the official kickoff of the 2013 V8 Supercars Championship Season.

Drivers MarkWinterbottom and Will Davison (Pepsi Max Ford Performance Racing), DavidReynolds (The Bottle-O Racing) and newcomer Alex Davison (JELD-WEN Racing)completed several days of tough physical work in and around Noosa, North ofQueensland’s Sunshine Coast.

The camp washeaded by noted physical trainer Glenn Lindsay, who put all four through theirpaces.

“Ourchampionship is so long, we need to start at round one as strong as possible,”Mark Winterbottom told FOX Sports News.

“It’s ourhardest race, at Clipsal, and this definitely makes you fit, makes you hungryand mentally strong, and that’s what it’s about.”

TrainerLindsay said the exercise was more than just challenging the physical abilitiesof the FPR drivers.

“It’s notjust about the training, the hard physical training; it’s also about the teambuilding and the camaraderie which is also very important in terms ofperformance,” he said.

“If you’redrivers are getting on well and you’re used to dealing with each other in astressful situation, then they will hopefully perform better when it reallycounts in a competitive season.

“Here thismorning, it was in the mid 30-degrees range of temperatures and 95 5 humidity,so certainly a fairly hostile environment but it didn’t seem to phase them.

The Bottle-ORacing’s David Reynolds explained that the conditions in Queensland at the timemade it a perfect place for pre-Clipsal 500 training – an event most driverssay is the toughest of the season.

“To draw aparallel for Clipsal 500, it’s like being in a sauna, at max temp, on an exercisebike and doing a crossword at the same time,” Reynolds said. “There’s a lotgoing on out there.”

FordPerformance Racing will unveil their liveries next week, ahead of the officialV8 Supercars pre-season test day at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 16th.
