The first day of winter arrived in magical style to Bathurst on Tuesday, with residents waking up to a blanket of snow on Mount Panorama.
Caused by a cold front spanning across most of New South Wales, snow was forecast to fall at 700 metres above sea level.
Snow fell in the higher areas of the regional town overnight, turning the iconic Skyline into a winter wonderland.
Photos emerged this morning showing the famous circuit under a dusting of white, with the town expected to reach a high of seven degrees Celsius today.
It comes two weeks after the return of Australia’s International enduro, the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour, won by
Mount Panorama received its heaviest snowfall in six years last June.
The usual weather event saw a replica of the 2014 Bathurst 1000 winning Ford completing a snowy drive around the circuit.
Motorists have been warned to take care and drive to the road conditions.
The Bureau of Meteorology forecast the cold front will continue over the coming days.
Overnight temperatures will reach as low as minus one degree Celsius for Bathurst on Friday.
This year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 will be held on October 6-9. Tickets for the 2022 Repco Bathurst 1000 will go on sale today at 3pm AEST.
