Running the first Shell V-Power Racing Team Gen3 Mustang has proven a “real privilege" for Will Davison.

Davison took the #17 Ford Mustang out for its first laps at Queensland Raceway on Tuesday.

The two-time Bathurst winner shared the car with teammate Anton De Pasquale.

Davison and De Pasquale will form DJR’s driver line-up for a third season.

Dick Johnson Racing joined Matt Stone Racing at the Ipswich circuit, with both teams testing their new cars.

Rookie Cameron Hill lapped MSR’s first Gen3 Camaro, which was also the first test running for a Gen3 team-built Camaro.

It comes a week after Blanchard Racing Team rolled out its first Gen3 Mustang at Winton Motor Raceway.

BRT, with driver Todd Hazelwood, returned to Winton on Tuesday for further running.

For Davison, Tuesday’s laps brought to life over 12 months of hard work for the team.

DJR, being Ford’s homologation team, was charged with developing the new car alongside Supercars.

“Very exciting to run our first Gen3 Mustang,” Davison said.

“It’s always a special moment, a real privilege when you see the amount of work thats gone into this project.

“It’s special for all of us to fire it up for the first time, to turn its first laps.

“It all starts here — it all starts today, our journey to to learn and get on top of this new package.

“But certainly an exciting milestone today.”

DJR’s track time comes a day after the team revealed its livery for the forthcoming season.

The team will carry Shell V-Power naming rights for a seventh consecutive season.

Triple Eight and PremiAir Racing will test for the first time at Queensland Raceway on Thursday.

Triple Eight and PremiAir Racing recently competed at the Bathurst 12 Hour, and have built their Gen3 cars at the former’s Banyo workshop.

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle on March 10-12.

Tickets are on sale on Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.
