Dick Johnson Racing co-driver Todd Hazelwood heads into Sunday’s AirTouch 500 at The Bend fired up after being involved in a dramatic Trans Am crash.
Hazelwood is completing double duties at The Bend Motorsport Park this weekend, sharing Brodie Kostecki’s Shell V-Power Ford, which claimed Saturday's Boost Mobile Pole.
The 2024 Bathurst winner clashed with James Moffat on the final lap of the second Trans Am race of the weekend after an intense battle for the lead.
Hazelwood went off the road and recovered to fourth, as Moffat held on to claim victory.
The South Australian did not visit the circuit medical centre after the wild off, and watched Boost Mobile Qualifying from the Shell V-Power Racing Team garage.
“Felt it was pretty average driving there by Moff, I just got absolutely drilled off the track,” Hazelwood said on the broadcast.
“Three rounds in a row by him, so pretty disappointing.
“Bigger and better things to focus on now, Brodie’s straight out of the box and on the money.
“From my personal point of view, feeling very strong in car #17 here with the Shell V-Power Racing Team, double duties here this weekend.
“Come tomorrow for the race, I’ll be ready to rock and roll.”
When asked about his condition in the post-Shootout press conference, Hazelwood added: "I'm fine, the car's a bit battered and bruised. Physically I'm fine, got bashed around, got my ears boxed on that last lap, a bit unnecessary for my liking."
Kostecki and Hazelwood are aiming for a second straight Bend 500 victory, having won last year’s event.
