Shane van Gisbergen is the champion-elect, but all is not sorted behind him in the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship.

This weekend's Repco Bathurst 1000 is the 12th and final round of the season.

The 161-lap classic is worth 300 points for the winner, meaning the points totem could see dramatic changes.

Such is the spread across the field that Bryce Fullwood, who is ranked 17th, could finish the year as high as 10th.

Behind van Gisbergen, there are five drivers in mathematical contention to finish either second or third.

The Mountain is calling for an epic finale

The retiring Jamie Whincup won't win an eighth title, but a Bathurst disaster could drop him to fourth.

That was the case in 2020; Whincup entered last year's Bathurst weekend second behind champion-elect Scott McLaughlin.

However, due to his early race crash and other results, Whincup ended the year fourth overall.

Will Davison and Chaz Mostert can finish second; Davison and Mostert are 246 and 285 points behind Whincup respectively.

Sixth-placed Anton De Pasquale is 158 points behind third-placed Shell V-Power Racing Team teammate Davison.

It gets even tighter in the midfield; 164 points cover 10th-placed Brodie Kostecki to 16th-placed Jack Le Brocq.

Kostecki and Erebus Motorsport teammate Will Brown are in line for impressive top 10 finishes in their rookie seasons.

However, Kostecki could finish as low as 17th, having held a top 10 position for much of the season.

Supercars will hit the track on Thursday for Practice 1 at 10:00am AEDT. Click here to view the track schedule.

Every session of the event will be broadcast live on Foxtel (Fox Sports 503) and streamed on Kayo.

The Seven Network will provide live free to air coverage of the event. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
