Crashed cars sidelined, more Matt Payne Ford dramas
Ryan Wood Ford, Rylan Gray Ford will not contest qualifying
Engine changed on Payne/Will Davison Mustang
Three key runners have been impacted ahead of Boost Mobile Qualifying at the Repco Bathurst 1000.
Confirmed to Supercars.com by both teams, the Ryan Wood Toyota and Rylan Gray Ford will not contest qualifying, which commences at 4:10pm AEDT, after big crashes in Practice 3.
Wood crashed heavily at Forrest's Elbow, before Gray's co-driver Tony D'Alberto found the wall at The Dipper.
As cars rolled out for Practice 4, Walkinshaw TWG Racing and Dick Johnson Racing had stripped the front off of their respective cars, with the engine also removed from Wood's car.

Erebus Motorsport fabricator Jimmy White was seen with DJR crew after the #38 Ford returned, indicating the Mustang chassis had sustained damage beyond the front clip.
The outcome is a big dent for Wood, who has yet to formally qualify for the 2026 Repco Supercars Finals. The Wood/Jaxon Evans Supra is set to start the race from 26th and last.
Drama also struck Penrite Racing, with the Ford of reigning Bathurst champion Matt Payne, whose Mustang required an engine change between sessions.
Reports of being down on power put the Penrite Racing crew into action, with an engine change swung on the #19 Ford.
It comes after the Payne/Will Davison Ford suffered a minor power steering issue in Thursday practice.
Payne leads Broc Feeney by 120 points heading into Sunday's 161-lap, 300-point race.
