DJR forced into Brodie Kostecki change after engineer injury
George Commins injured in mountain biking accident, will miss Bathurst
Team Manager Tom Moore steps into #17 engineer role for Bathurst
The Shell V-Power Racing Team has been rocked by an injury to engineer George Commins, who will miss the Repco Bathurst 1000.
Commins, who led Brodie Kostecki to Bathurst success in 2024 with Erebus Motorsport, and the 2025 Bathurst pole, has been injured in a mountain biking accident.
Commins will be replaced by Team Manager Tom Moore.
"Car 17 race engineer George Commins will miss the Repco Bathurst 1000 after sustaining injuries in a mountain biking accident prior to the race weekend," DJR said in a statement.
"Team manager Tom Moore will take over race engineer duties for Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood at Mount Panorama while George recuperates at home.
"Everyone at the Shell V-Power Racing Team wishes George a swift recovery."
Moore and Kostecki are no strangers to one another, having worked in the same team full-time since 2021, when Moore engineered Kostecki's then-Erebus teammate Will Brown.
Moore moved to DJR with Kostecki and Commins, engineering Will Davison throughout the 2025 season before stepping up into the Team Manager role at Adelaide, a role he has retained throughout 2026.
Track action at Mount Panorama commences on Thursday.
