Supercars has confirmed the upcoming Beaurepaires Tasmania SuperSprint has been delayed by one week.

The decision has been made amid the ongoing COVID-19 situation in Brisbane.

In response to the outbreak, the Greater Brisbane area has been locked down, with a number of border controls being imposed.

Red Bull Ampol Racing is based in Brisbane, while Shell V-Power Racing Team and Matt Stone Racing are in the Gold Coast area.

Critically, the Tasmanian border has been closed to those who have visited affected local government areas in Queensland.

The new date of the Beaurepaires Tasmania SuperSprint is April 17-18.

In a statement, Supercars says staff and race teams will comply with all applicable government regulations.

"As has been the case since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Supercars staff and race teams will comply with all applicable government regulations in travelling to and staging the event.

"Supercars thanks all fans for their ongoing patience and apologises for any inconvenience caused. We look forward to welcoming everyone to a safe event in Tasmania in the coming weeks."
