DJR boosted by George Commins trackside return
Brodie Kostecki's engineer Commins missed Bathurst 1000
Tom Moore continues as Kostecki's engineer for Gold Coast
The Shell V-Power Racing Team brains trust on the Gold Coast will include George Commins, who returns following his Bathurst absence.
Commins, who has engineered Brodie Kostecki since the start of 2021, missed the Repco Bathurst 1000 earlier this month following a mountain biking accident.
In Commins' absence, Team Manager Tom Moore stepped up to engineer the Kostecki Mustang, which surged to victory in the Great Race.
He was seen walking through the paddock with Moore and Gray's engineer Ed Williams on Friday morning ahead of Practice 1.
Commins is set to support both the Kostecki and Rylan Gray Fords for this weekend's event, which will see the Finals field whittled down from 10 to seven.
Kostecki was infamously eliminated from last year's Finals on the Gold Coast, when he crashed out of Saturday Boost Mobile Qualifying, rendering him a non-starter for the race.
The 2023 Supercars champion commences the weekend ranked fourth behind leader Matt Payne, Broc Feeney and former teammate Will Brown.
Track action commences on Friday.
