An iconic car in Peter Brock’s personal history will feature at this year’s Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.
Tickets for the 2022 Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500, which will be held on October 28-30, are on sale now.
Owned by Brock during his time running Holden Dealer Team, the King of the Mountain used the 1984 Commodore SS as his personal vehicle.
Regarded as the most desirable Brock Commodore of them all, the Group 3 sedan will be a prominent fixture in the Gold Coast Muscle Car Association’s display.
Over 120 cars will line Pacific and Cable Streets for the all-time classic exhibition, including a V8-powered HQ Monaro and 1966 Mustang Fastback, along with an array of Chevrolet Camaros, Corvettes, Ford Falcons, and classic Holdens.
Fans will be able to take photos with any car enthusiast's dream line-up, kicking off on Friday October 28.
A supercharged Datsun120y will be an interesting showpiece, as well as a 1960 Chevy Impala and Toyota Hilux on airbags that needs to be seen to be believed.
Saturday’s pre-race celebrations will see the iconic muscle cars complete a lap around the Surfers Paradise street circuit.
Trackside fans can watch all the Supercars championship drivers as they make a lap around the Gold Coast Street Circuit ahead of the first 250-kilometre race of the weekend.
The driver’s parade will feature cars spanning eight decades, from a 1946 Superdeluxe Ford convertible to a C7 Corvette.
Organised by the Southport-based car club, the Gold Coast Muscle Car Association has over 510 members.
Iconic muscle cars to feature in GC500 auto show
The largest car club of its kind in Southeast Queensland, the group recently won Best Presented Club at the 2022 Harrigans Rod and Custom Show.
GCMA President Ross Gardener said the group is excited to showcase some of the club’s best pre-1979 muscle cars from the US and Australia.
“We are all looking forward to showing people some of the showstopping cars we have in the club,” Gardener said.
“Our club is for everyday people who like muscle cars, and we hope our display shows people that they can get involved too.
“Having our cars in the driver’s parade will be a great experience for our members, we are all excited to be a part of the event.”
This year’s Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 will take on a music festival vibe, with more bars, entertainment, and huge music acts than ever before.
The iconic Club 500 will roar back to life on Macintosh Island, with some of Australia’s hottest DJs and international stars to take to the stage on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 will be held 28-30 October and broadcast live on Fox Sports and the Seven Network.
