Broc Feeney confirmed for New Zealand Grand Prix cameo
Feeney will go head-to-head with Will Brown at Highlands event
Triple Eight duo will start Supercars season on February 21-23
Broc Feeney will go head-to-head with Supercars teammate Will Brown at the upcoming New Zealand Grand Prix.
Announced Monday, Feeney has secured a one-off start for the forthcoming 69th New Zealand Grand Prix with mtec Motorsport.
The 22-year-old, who finished runner-up to Triple Eight Race Engineering teammate Brown in last year's Repco Supercars Championship, will make his competitive open wheel debut on February 7-9 at Highlands International Motorsport Park.
The Highlands event will be the final round of the 2025 Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship, with Brown having completed two of his three starts in the series.
Feeney will replace American Josh Pierson, who has committed to a IndyNXT test ahead of his second season in IndyCar’s main feeder series.
Unlike Brown, who won the 2016 Australian Formula 4 title, Feeney didn't progress from karts to single seaters, instead jumping straight into the Aussie Toyota 86 series before pursuing Supercars.
Feeney and Brown will race against the likes of Red Bull junior and series leader Arvid Lindblad, podium finisher Nikita Johnson and race winners Matias Zagazeta and Zack Scoular. Rising Australian single seater racers Patrick Heuzenroeder and Nicholas Stati are also entered for the event.
Despite the Grand Prix marking his competitive single seater debut, Feeney was excited for the challenge.
“I’m pumped to be coming over for the New Zealand Grand Prix at Highlands,” the 12-time Supercars race winner said.
“It will be my first ever race in an open wheeler and I am super excited to challenge myself.”
Tickets for the Supercars season-opening round in Sydney, on February 21-23, are on sale now.
