As 2025 winds down, Supercars.com is ranking the top 10 drivers of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship, starting with Will Brown, who comes in as our #7.
It was a confusing championship defence for Will Brown, who had brilliant race pace amid poor qualifying form.
The Queenslander was, at times, incredible after the lights went out. Look at Sandown, when he charged from 15th to second, and 17th to third, on consecutive days.
At other times, he made crucial mistakes. Twice in two days, he tripped over in Gold Coast qualifying. In Bathurst, he crashed out of contention.
What we love about Brown, is he never gives up. Give him a poor grid slot, and he'll find a way to pop up in a podium fight. There's a reason he's a Supercars champion, but if he wants to win No. 2 in 2026, he'll need to amend some glaring issues.
Will Brown's season stats
Championship position: 2nd
Best finish: 1st (Melbourne, Ipswich)
Average finish: 5.55
Race head-to-head with teammate: 10-23
Podiums: 13
Best start: 1st (Tasmania)
Average start: 9.12
Qualifying head-to-head with teammate: 2-32
Why we picked him
Brown is a brilliant driver, and on his day, is essential viewing. His runs to the podium at Sandown kept his championship alive.
While his qualifying performance left a lot to be desired, you could never write him off.
When he crashed twice in Gold Coast qualifying, you could be forgiven to giving him little to no chance of surviving. But this is Will Brown: put him in a spot of bother, and he'll find a way to survive.
What we expect next season
Up against the indomitable Broc Feeney, Brown's qualifying form was awful. Losing a qualifying head-to-head 32-2 isn't good enough to win a championship.
If Brown and engineer Andrew Edwards can find a way to sort out one-lap pace, and balance that with their superb race pace, Brown could be incredibly hard to stop next season.
He won the 2024 championship with elite consistency of the ilk not seen since Dick Johnson in 1984. He couldn't repeat the feat in 2025 because of poor qualifying performance.
If he can (and we expect him to) turn around his qualifying headaches, don't be surprised if he wrestles the #1 back.
