Triple Eight to occupy first two garages for opening Enduro Cup round
Penrite Racing just 28 points ahead of Tickford Racing for second
Fifth placed DJR just 184 points ahead of eighth placed MSR
While Triple Eight Race Engineering will take pride of place at the head of pit lane for the first Enduro Cup race of 2025, there's plenty at stake at the final Repco Sprint Cup round of the year.
This weekend's Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440 is the eighth of 13 rounds in 2025, and the final sprint round of the season. Up next is the AirTouch 500 at The Bend, followed by the Repco Bathurst 1000. Both races are worth 300 points for the winner, and the headlines will be centred on who makes The Finals.
With greater strategic elements implemented for the year's longest races, pit lane position will be crucial to a team's hopes as they look to execute effective pit stops.
A maximum of 591 points are up for grabs at this weekend's Ipswich round, and looking through the current teams' championship standings, there could be plenty of change to the order for The Bend.
The biggest storyline is centred on Ford rivals Penrite Racing and Tickford Racing, which enter Ipswich split by just 28 points. Tickford ceded the lead to Triple Eight after Melbourne, and dropped behind Penrite Racing in Townsville.
After flying out of the blocks with a clean sweep for Cam Waters in Sydney, Tickford has been on a downward trend since. Across the last three rounds in Perth, Darwin and Townsville, Tickford was outscored by 208 points by Penrite Racing, and by 103 by Walkinshaw Andretti United.
In that span, Brad Jones Racing has also made big gains, outscoring the Shell V-Power Racing Team by 51 points. Heading to Ipswich, DJR is just 63 points behind Dick Johnson Racing, with Team 18 also within striking distance.
Brodie Kostecki has been DJR's standout, sitting sixth with a win in Townsville. However, the poor form of Will Davison, who sits 17th, has left the Ford team exposed.
Should it continue, DJR could find itself as low as eighth in the order for The Bend or Bathurst, with Matt Stone Racing just six points behind Team 18.
In the battle for the minors, Bathurst champions Erebus Motorsport are just 75 points behind the struggling PremiAir Racing, while Blanchard Racing Team is only 18 points behind the second BJR crew.
Supercars drivers will contest three races at the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440. Tickets are on sale now. International viewers can watch the action on SuperView.
