Super2 champion Kai Allen has been declared the winner of the first Dunlop Series race of 2024, which was suspended after a pile-up at the Cutting.

Allen (#1 Holden) was at the queue of the field when the race was suspended on the seventh lap, followed by Aaron Cameron (#27 Ford) and Zach Bates (#25 Holden).

The results were backdated to the fifth lap before the incident, with full points awarded.

Allen, Cameron and Bates filled the podium, ahead of Rylan Gray (#55 Ford), Jarrod Hughes (#118 Holden), Brad Vaughan (#5 Ford) and Lochie Dalton (#6 Ford).

Zane Morse (#11 Ford) and Cameron Crick (#38 Holden) were declared eighth and ninth, and were the key players in the race-ending incident.

Morse was turned in front of the field by Crick at the Cutting, with the Mustangs of Jett Johnson (#117 Ford) and Max Vidau (#17 Ford) blocking the circuit.

Several cars sustained damage, and the rest of the field returned to pit lane and remained there as the clock ticked down to zero.

At the time of the stoppage, Allen had recorded seven laps ahead of Cameron, Bates, Gray, Hughes, Vaughan, Crick, Matt Chahda (#18 Holden) and Jordyn Sinni (#54 Holden).

Dunlop Series action will resume on Sunday with Boost Mobile Qualifying at 8:35am AEDT, which sets the grid for Race 2, which starts at 1:40pm.
