ITM Taupō Super 440: Everything you need to know

Taupō is upon us! As the we head into another high octane weekend of racing, there's so much to see and do from Monday onwards. Here's our list of things to check out, whilst at the ITM Taupō Super 440.

1. Track to Town (including Pōwhiri, Signing Session & Cars by the Lake):

Track to Town will once again return to the Taupō streets to welcome back Supercars into town. It all starts at 3:15 PM at Tapuaeharuru Reserve, where fans will be able to experience the powerful Pōwhiri, the traditional Māori welcome ceremony.

There will also be trophy handover, where the trophies - a carved by local master carver, Delani Brown with the engagement from the Tauhara Hapū collective - will be presented to the Supercars Management at Te Ātea.

All 24 cars will then roar out from Taupō International Motorsport Park at 3:45 PM as they make their way to Roberts Street. The full route for Track to Town can be found on our interactive map by clicking here, or you can click here to download the PDF copy.

Once parked up, fans will be able to grab a selfie and an autograph at the Track to Town Signing Session from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, before the Supercars convoy returns back to Taupō International Motorsport Park.

Also happening all day Thursday is Cars by the Lake, powered by Repco and Armor All, featuring over 60 high-end show cars, this event is a must-see for car enthusiasts of all ages.

2. Signing Sessions:

Grab a free poster, meet the drivers, snag an autograph and even a selfie! Signing sessions are on throughout the weekend in Merchandise Alley at the track, as well as at the Track to Town, see below for specific times:

3. Supercars Simulator Challenge:

Fancy yourself an expert of Taupō International Motorsport Park? Race and post the fastest time on the Supercars Simulator, located on Te Heuheu Street, Taupō from Monday 7th April until Thursday 10th April (12:00 PM until 5:00 PM).

Prizes to be given out daily for those who set the fastest lap!

4. Pit Stop by the Lake:

Courtesy of Taupō District Council, Pit Stop by the Lake celebrates the ITM Taupō Super 440 with a FREE outdoor Supercars-themed movie screenings on Friday and Saturday evenings. The movies being shown are:

Grab the family, some takeaway, your picnic blanket for a fun evening out. There will be plenty of family-friendly activities including face painting!

9. Track Schedule:

Supercars will have two Practice sessions on Friday, two Qualifying sessions & Races 8 & 9 on Saturday, with Qualifying (Race 10), Top Ten Shootout and Race 10 capping off the weekend on Sunday.

There is also plenty of racing from our support categories, with Toyota 86 Championship New Zealand, Central Muscle Cars and Super V8's appearing throughout the weekend.

10. Parking & Traffic Restrictions:

Complementary car parking will be available on the Taupō Gliding Airstrip.
