Shell V-Power Mustangs to carry special look for Darwin, Townsville
Kurun Warun creates special artwork for Dick Johnson Racing Darwin look
Brodie Kostecki seventh, Will Davison 14th in championship
The Shell V-Power Racing Team has called on the stunning work of renowned artist Kurun Warun for its striking 2025 Indigenous livery.
One day out from track action, the Ford team revealed its stunning matching Indigenous looks ahead of this weekend’s betr Darwin Triple Crown.
Warun descends from Truganini, Queen of Tasmania, and the Framlingham Mission community. His art has been collected by the likes of Oprah Winfrey and the Prince of Saudi Arabia.
Warun’s piece draws inspiration from the natural elements across the lands, and tells a story of intergenerational teaching and sharing of culture.
A traditional kangaroo hunting dance, a way of passing skills from Elders to younger generations, takes centre stage on both DJR Fords.
The mother figure is seen teaching, while behind her, Warun’s wife and three children observe. Opposite, older community members also watch on, highlighting the collective responsibility of raising and guiding the next generation.
“It's awesome — it's the first time I've ever had a painting on race cars and it’s a thrill just to be part of it,” said Warun, who will attend the races with members of his family.
“It’s a proud moment for me and my family – my kids and friends. We're just hoping that the team win now.”
Shell V-Power Racing Team CEO David Noble added: “Kurun Warun’s artwork is particularly striking and looks amazing when presented on our Shell V-Power Mustangs.
“We are proud to be able to showcase his artwork on the cars as well as through the uniforms our drivers and team will wear during the event.
"We’re also excited to say the pit walling in our garage will strongly feature Kurun Warun’s work so it will be highly visible throughout the event.”
Brodie Kostecki is seventh and Will Davison 14th in the championship, with Darwin action commencing Friday.
