New-look Dick Johnson Racing livery, Brodie Kostecki number unveiled
Famous Ford team evolves popular Shell V-Power Racing Team colour scheme
Kostecki to race #38 in first season, Will Davison retains iconic #17
Dick Johnson Racing has revealed its new-look Shell V-Power Racing Team livery, with Brodie Kostecki formally unveiled alongside teammate Will Davison.
The DJR Fords will sport a fresh look in 2025, with this year's famous red, yellow and white livery an evolution of the iconic Shell V-Power Racing Team colours.
Uncovered at the team's launch in Queensland, the 2025 DJR livery features a primarily white base, with the iconic red and yellow Shell colours returning on both cars.
Kostecki’s new race number was also revealed, with the 2023 Supercars champion to carry the #38. Davison, meanwhile, continue to run DJR's iconic #17.
Kostecki raced with the #38 in the Super2 Series, while the #38 is no stranger to Johnson himself. The Supercars Hall of Famer used the number in his first ever race meeting at Lakeside in Queensland in 1964. Johnson also carried the #38 in NASCAR starts during the 1990s.
DJR also announced an expanded agreement with its existing long-term partner, Ford. The extension comes just days after Ford announced a new alliance with Triple Eight Race Engineering, which will race Mustangs from 2026.
“This year’s livery looks unbelievable,” Kostecki said.
“I’m also super excited to be racing with the number 38 this year. I know it has special meaning to ‘DJ’ but it’s also the number I ran during my time in the Dunlop Series so it still has a special place in my racing history as well.
“With the car now revealed publicly, it’s time for me and the team to get to work, starting with my first drive of the Shell V-Power Mustang at our shakedown on 13 February at Queensland Raceway.”
Davison added: “When I first saw the number 17 Shell V-Power Mustang, I knew we had another iconic livery on our hands.
“We’ve got some exciting changes onboard and the team has worked tirelessly building brand new cars. “I cannot wait to get on track and understand the differences and improvements.”
Johnson, a five-time ATCC champion and three-time Bathurst winner, said: “This year’s livery is an impressive new look for the team as we embark on what will be a hugely exciting 2025 season.
“It’s also great to have Brodie racing with number 38, it’s a number that is close to my heart as the number I raced under for the very first time back in 1964.
“I know everybody at Shell V-Power Racing Team is excited about what 2025 has in store for us.”
Story added: “We’re thrilled to reveal the new-look, mighty Shell V-Power Mustangs for 2025.
“This year promises to be something special. We have worked hard over this off-season investing in our people, our cars and our fans. This new livery design highlights our evolution as a team and marks the start of a new and exciting era."
The new-look Shell V-Power Mustangs will complete a shakedown at Queensland Raceway on February 13, before the pre-season test day at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 19, and Thrifty Sydney 500 - Opening Round on February 21-23.
