Thomas Randle not concerned about 2025 Finals crunch
Tickford driver dropped from sixth to 10th in three rounds
Kai Allen just 20 points behind Randle heading to The Bend
Thomas Randle isn't reading too much into his championship position just yet, despite the Tickford Racing driver leaving Ipswich 10th in the standings.
Randle became the fifth different driver to leave a round in the dreaded 10th position, after Andre Heimgartner, Nick Percat, Ryan Wood and Anton De Pasquale.
De Pasquale, Heimgartner and Wood are now ahead of Randle, who started the year with a podium in Sydney and add another in Tasmania.
The last three rounds have been tough for the Castrol Ford driver; across the nine races in Darwin, Townsville and Ipswich rounds, Randle missed the top 10 seven times.
When asked after Sunday's Ipswich finale about his championship position, Randle replied: "Am I concerned about being 10th? Not right now.
"We've obviously two big races coming up, The Bend and then Bathurst. Very much looking forward to teaming up with Moff [James Moffat, co-driver]."
Randle was sixth, 169 points clear of 11th, after Perth. The 2020 Super2 champion's best result since was an eighth in Townsville, with his average finish 15.4 in the last three rounds.
Qualifying has been Tickford's biggest headache in recent rounds; since Perth, spearhead driver Cam Waters has a qualifying average of 9.2, and Randle 12.9.
However, after a run of poor luck, Tickford was at least rewarded for staying out on Sunday, with Waters finishing second after starting 19th. Randle, meanwhile, raced from 23rd to 14th.
"Yes, it wasn't the greatest weekend. We were both struggling [on Sunday]. At the start we were quite strong. I think we got up to 15th from 23rd," the Victorian added.
"The Safety Car worked in Cam's favour, great for car #6 and the team, good team points. One day it'll go our way, but at least it's gone of our car's way finally."
The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship continues at the AirTouch 500 at The Bend from September 12-14, and will open the Enduro Cup. Tickets are on sale now.
