BRT sign Lochie Dalton to expanded Super2 operation
2025 Pole Award winner and series runner-up joins Bailey Sweeny
Sweeny claimed maiden podium at Ipswich in rookie season
Blanchard Racing Team have confirmed they will expand to a two-car operation in the 2026 DUNLOP Super2 Series, and have made a big signing to bolster their squad.
Alongside the returning Bailey Sweeny, 2025 Super2 runner-up Lochie Dalton moves across from Tickford into the brand-new #43 entry at Box Hill.
Alongside his three race wins, Dalton also claimed four pole positions in 11 attempts last season, cruising to the Boost Mobile Pole Award for 2025.
Now, Dalton is eager to take the next step and claim the Super2 crown at his fourth attempt, having previously driven for Brad Jones Racing and Tickford.
"I didn’t want to come back just to make up the numbers," said Dalton.
"There’s definitely some unfinished business for me, and I’m coming in with that clear focus. The team has shown they’re building something strong, and I feel like this is the right place for me to push for the championship again.”
Sweeny returns for his second Super2 campaign in the #33 Mustang after several promising runs in his rookie season, highlighted by a maiden race podium in the opening race of Round 4 at Ipswich.
After finishing 13th last season, Sweeny is eager to learn off Dalton, who is also set to drive alongside Cooper Murray at Erebus Motorsport in the Ryco Enduro Cup.
“We built a good foundation last season and I learnt a lot, so I’m ready to come back and see what we can achieve," said Sweeny.
"Continuing with the team gives me real confidence heading into the new year, and I’m looking forward to having Lochie alongside me as both a teammate and a benchmark.”
Team Principal and co-owner Tim Blanchard says that the expansion of his DUNLOP Series program is the next step in ensuring their pathway through to the Repco Supercars Championship remains strong.
“Expanding our Super2 programme is an important step for us and for the broader driver pathway in Australian motorsport," said 2010 Super2 runner-up Blanchard.
"It’s about creating opportunity and providing the right environment for young drivers to develop.
“Lochie’s results through the 2025 season showed real pace and talent, while Bailey’s progress in his rookie year laid a strong foundation to build from.
"Our focus is on development and performance, and on giving drivers the tools they need to take that next step toward Supercars.”
It's the latest strong addition to a Ford contingent eager to challenge Tickford after a dominant top four lockout last year, following Anderson Motorsport's shock announcements that Zak Best will return, and will be engineered by Ludo Lacroix.
The 2026 DUNLOP Super2 Series commences at the DUNLOP Sydney 500 from February 20-22. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
