Four Supercars teams fined in Perth

Penrite Racing is among a number of teams to have been handed fines during the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440.

A series of Motorsport Australia stewards reports have revealed that four teams have received fines.

The largest was for teams’ championship leaders Penrite Racing, which was awarded a suspended $5000 fine for using more than the permitted number of radios.

The Grove squad was detected using 14 radio devices, two more than the mandated maximum. The fine has been suspended through December 31 due to mitigating circumstances, subject to no further breaches.

The team argued that there have been issues with the radio system, and the team had used the additional devices during Saturday Race 23 Qualifying "to test whether this ameliorated the issues being experienced.”

Matt Stone Racing and Brad Jones Racing were fined $500 after changing wheels on their cars before the start procedure commenced for Saturday’s first race.

Erebus Motorsport, meanwhile, was also fined $500 after Jobe Stewart crossed the control line twice during Friday’s event rides session. Per the report, Stewart was mistakenly told to complete an extra lap.

Beyond Supercars, Super2 team Matt Chahda Motorsport was fined $10,000 — $5000 suspended — for unapproved testing, while a host of drivers were fined for disobeying race direction for passing the control line after practice.
