Supercars confirms revised DUNLOP Sydney 500 schedule

Supercars are taking proactive steps to protect the track surface, ensuring that there will be minimal disruptions to Supercars sessions for the remainder of the DUNLOP Sydney 500.

With temperatures expected to hit the mid-to-high 30s, Supercars continue to monitor track conditions at the recently resurfaced Turn 8, following urgent capital work completed ahead of the Destination NSW Sydney Test Day.

In order to preserve the condition of the new surface, all Toyota GR Cup, V8 SuperUtes, and Touring Car Masters sessions will utilise the shorter Druitt Circuit for the remainder of Saturday, whilst all Supercars and Super2 sessions will be held on the full Gardner Circuit.

Qualifying for the opening race of the DUNLOP Super2 Series has also been rescheduled from 1:50pm, and will now be held immediately prior to Race 2 Qualifying for the Repco Supercars Championship.

UPDATE: Super2 Race 1 Qualifying will now also be held on the Druitt Circuit. The circuit configuration for Race 1 at 6:10pm is yet to be determined.

Supercars Chief Motorsport Officer Tim Edwards explained: "The track looked really good after last night's race, but there was a few small areas that were starting to break up.

"We've put some Degadur down there, those areas have held up really well, but now because it's such a long corner, we've moved further around the corner and plucked some more bitumen out further around the corner.

"So we've put more Degadur down on that area, so we're waiting on that to set at the moment.

"In the meantime, just to buy ourselves a little bit of time, we've moved some of the support categories to the shorter track, and that should give us two hours of nobody running on it to allow that to set properly."
